Brian Piccolo tried out for the Chicago Bears as a free agent in 1965 and made the practice squad. He made the main roster in 1966 and began backing up Gale Sayers in 1967. Piccolo was made the starting fullback in 1969, starring in the backfield with Sayers. Late during that season, breathing had become extremely difficult for him, so the team sent him for a medical examination where he was diagnosed with embryonal cell carcinoma. He passed away in 1970 at the age of 26. The Bears retired his jersey number 41. The film ‘Brian’s Song’, based on Gale Sayers’ autobiography highlighted the friendship between the two. This beautifully matted and framed index card was hand signed by Brian Piccolo. The autograph is guaranteed authentic, and includes authentication from PSA/DNA.
