Barry Sanders, the 1988 Heisman Trophy Winner, was selected 3^rd overall in the 1989 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. He went on to lead the league in rushing yards for four seasons, was twice named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year, and was the 1997 NFL MVP.
