Wayne Gretzky, nicknamed "The Great One", played 20 seasons in the NHL and is without question one of the greatest hockey players of all time. Gretzky, the leading point scorer in NHL history, scored more than 200 points in a season four different times - and no other player accomplished this mark even once. He had more assists in his career than any other player has points. When Gretzky retired in 1999, he held 40 regular-season records, 15 playoff records and six All-Star records. Gretzky won the Lady Byng Trophy for sportsmanship and performance five times. Gretzky was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1999.
