Lucille Ball began her Broadway and film acting career in the 1930s, and during that time, she met Cuban bandleader Desi Arnaz. In November of 1940, the two eloped, and by 1951 they set off to stardom with the I Love Lucy sitcom. The show was the very first scripted program with a live audience and became one of the most successfully viewed television programs, widely regarded as one of history's most influential sitcoms. They were each honored with two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for their contributions to motion pictures and the other for television.
