Elroy Face, the greatest relief pitcher of his time, spent the majority of his 17-year Major League career with the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1959, he posted a record of 18-1, while winning 17 of those victories in a row. During the 1960 World Series, he became the first pitcher to save three games in a single Series. Selected an All-Star each year from 1959 to 1961, Face was also the first player to save 20 games more than once, leading the league three times and finishing second three times.
