Don Newcombe Autographed Vintage Bat Inscribed ROY, MVP, Cy Young

Don Newcombe is one of only two players (along with Justin Verlander) to have won the Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player and Cy Young awards in his career. In 1949, Newcombe became the first black pitcher to start a World Series game, and in 1955, he was the first black pitcher to win twenty games in one season. In 1956, he was the first pitcher to win the National League MVP award and the Cy Young Award in the same season. He was an excellent hitting pitcher, compiling a career average of .271 with fifteen home runs, and he was one of few pitchers in the major leagues used as a pinch hitter. Newcombe passed away in 2019 at the age of 92. This vintage bat has been hand signed and inscribed "1949 Rookie of the Year, 1956 MVP - Cy Young" by Don Newcombe.
