Born in 1918, "Rapid Robert" Feller signed a professional contract for just $1 and ironically an autographed baseball. He never played in the minor leagues and made his Major League debut for the Cleveland Indians in 1936 at the age of just 17 years old. He played his entire 18-year career in Cleveland for the Indians, making the All-Star team 8 times, leading the AL in strikeouts 7 times, throwing 3 no-hitters and a major league record 12 1-hitters. He won 266 games in his career and only lost 162, playing on many poor teams. He struck out 17 batters in a game when he was only 17 years old, and he was elected into the Hall of Fame in 1962. Feller is a true American Hero. On December 8, 1941, Feller enlisted in the Navy, volunteering immediately for combat service, becoming the first Major League Baseball player to do so following the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7. He served as Gun Captain aboard the USS Alabama and missed four seasons during his service in World War II, being decorated with five campaign ribbons and eight battle stars. Feller is the only Chief Petty Officer in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Feller passed away on December 15, 2010. This index card hand signed by Bob Feller has been slabbed and authenticated by PSA/DNA.
