Bob Allison was an outfielder for the Washington Senators / Minnesota Twins. He made his major league debut in 1958, and won the AL Rookie of the Year award in 1959. In 13 season, the 3-time All-Star and fan-favorite finished in the top 10 in home runs eight times. Allison was diagnosed with a progressive sporadic ataxia, and helped found the Bob Allison Ataxia Research Center at the University of Minnesota along with his family and former Twins' teammates Jim Kaat and Frank Quilici. He passed away of complications from ataxia in 1995 at the age of 60. Following his death, the Minnesota Twins created the Bob Allison Award to be given to the player who demonstrates determination, hustle, tenacity, competitive spirit and leadership both on and off the field. This vintage 1960-1969 Reach official American League (Cronin) baseball has been hand signed and inscribed "To Mike With Sincere Regards" by Bob Allison.
